Hogwarts, Hogwarts,
Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald,
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling,
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare
And full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff.
So teach us stuff worth knowing,
Bring back what we forgot,
Just do your best
We'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot!

1: The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2: Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
3: There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4: Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
5: Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
6: His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
7: The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8: The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9: The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10: More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11: Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12: Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13: Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Harry a Horcrux?

Pauli made a comment on Voldy saying that he "less than spirit" after the first night with Harry. this got me thinking to look at that passage.

Unless Voldy was lying in his comments to the death eaters in the graveyard, I am wrong about him trying to make Harry a Horcrux.

"You all know that on the night I lost my powers and my body, I tried to kill him."

But I think Granger may be right that the scar is a Horcrux that voldy created by accident through murdering Lily.

Oops ... oh well, back to the drawing board....

Granger's idea is that the scar is a horcrux which will provide Harry with some protection against the horcruxes which Dumbledore didn't have as well as allow Harry to destroy the Horcruxes by somehow absorbing them, almost in the sense of loving embrace, IOW, destroying Voldemort with love, Harry's greatest gift. This is a somewhat poor but succinct summary of one of Granger's theories.

If I understand this correctly I will now name it "the evolved Horcrux" theory, or better yet "the transformed horcrux" theory.

It's a horcrux but very different from the others.

Yeah - Granger says that it's an "accidental horcrux". Think about it - Voldemort's death is fairly normal in that it is his soul being separated from his body. But his soul at this point, described as "shattered" at the end of HBP, is practically damaged beyond repair. He has already created multiple horcruxes by the time he goes to kill the Potters. Out of pure malice and evil he kills James, Lily and when he goes to kill Harry and can't he inadvertently leaves part of himself with Harry, the rest of the soul seems to float away like shapeless mist, not spirit, not body - kind of an "anti-matter" or a negative being. That's my interpretation of the theory.

I like the horcrux theory! I'm afraid if I continue reading this blog that I might know how the series ends before it does so!

Blondie,
I turst rowling, I think she's too smart for me and Paul and even John Grnager lol ... I think Granger hits on some heavy things (he predicted that DD would die in either 5 or 6, before 5 had come out, and Snape was his second choice for the HBP before HBP was out) and Pauli and I may throw in some goodies here and there ...
but I think the stay-at-home mom from England is going to outwit us all and have lots of surprises in the end.

Even if a theory turns out to be dead-on it can't possibly ruin the story. Maybe this statement could be a corollary to Flannery O'Connor's statement about stories (earlier in the blog).

I mean horcruxes, schmorcruxes - I want to know if Neville and Luna get together! And will Filch get rid of Peaves? What about Dobby vs. Kreacher part II?

Blogger Merlin said ... (October 24, 2005 11:16 AM) :

Personally, I'm a little scared to meet the children if Neville and Luna get together lol

Blogger Merlin said ... (October 24, 2005 11:17 AM) :

but i would put my money on dobby over kreacher
