Hogwarts, Hogwarts,
Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald,
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling,
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare
And full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff.
So teach us stuff worth knowing,
Bring back what we forgot,
Just do your best
We'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot!

1: The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2: Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
3: There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4: Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
5: Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
6: His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
7: The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8: The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9: The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10: More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11: Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12: Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13: Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Coming soon - New site name, address and look

New name & new look - Coming Soon!

We have been using the name of my favorite movie, Babette's Feast, for this blog for awhile now and have been planning to change it from the moment we turned it into a Harry Potter discussion blog. Merlin came up with the name "Muggle Matters" which I really liked. I registered the domain name mugglematters.com a while back, but I really wanted to have a new design before the cut-over.

Meanwhile our 'net-friend Sarah who does great stuff like Sarah and Beyond and Lucas Around the World has been designing a great new look for our blog. You had better be sitting down when you first see it; the improvement is quite shocking!

When?

I've OK'd the latest design and so we should have it up by Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005. Until cutover, the new site will bounce back to http://babettesfeast.blogspot.com, and after the cutover, the old address will bounce to the new one.

[NOTE: I discovered in my research of the nature of the trademark which is held on the word "muggle" that the new site name and address will most likely be some type of minor infringement. But since we're not selling anything I think they'll probably leave us alone. Also J. K. R. herself has raised a stink about the big companies "going after" fan sites and discussion sites since she feels that this activity contributes even more to literacy among the youth - so good for her! At any rate, I think we're under the radar.]

Uh, I was just coming here to TELL you about Lucas Around the World!! Apparently you are ahead of the game! BUT, since you now know me, Lucas may be visiting your town soon and you'll get the ALMIGHTY pleasure of photographing him with some major landmarks!!! His next two stops are Jamaica in December and New York City in January.

Well, hey, with an itinerary like that I can hardly believe he's in the mood for Cleveland or Stubenville in Ohio or Grove City in western Pennsylvania... but of course I don't know Lucas very well.

Blogger Lucas said ... (November 27, 2005 9:00 PM) :

He's actually had a change of itinerary and MIGHT be visiting Tokyo, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia in the new year!!

Blogger Merlin said ... (November 28, 2005 9:28 PM) :

hey Pauli, I don't live in Steubenville no more, it's Weirton WV now ... I could photograph Lucas in front of any number of small, windowless "and more" slot-machine/keno places (I think North-Western West Virginia must be the depression gambling captial of the world right now, there is even a a "Donut Connection and more" in Weirton ... a donute shop in which they built a slots and keno room)

Blogger Merlin said ... (November 28, 2005 9:31 PM) :

Let me clarify - they still sell donuts and cofee ... but now your can go vent your depression while you wait or something ... it's just sort of a windowless island room in the middle of what used to be all seating

Blogger Merlin said ... (November 28, 2005 9:40 PM) :

What I should really do is take Lucas down to the corner where the Staeline Diner is and take FOUR pictures of him in front of the four "different" gambling places there, and then reveal that they are all within about 30 yards of each other at the same intersection ... AND, (reportedly) all owned by THE SAME GUY - apparently the current law is a limit of 5 slot machines per location, so he just did 4 rooms near each other ... simply genius eh?
(and poor Sarah is getting just so excited right about now about sending poor Lucas down this way ... but don't worry, I would protect him, especially this time of year ... today along route 22 there were like 20 trucks and SUVs parked by the side of the highway because today was the first day of rifle season for deer in PA ... it's like a national holiday)

Blogger Merlin said ... (November 28, 2005 9:44 PM) :

For the record ... mine was not one of the vehicles pakred by the side of the highway, I was simply on my way over to Robinson - I haven't had time for hunting since ... can't remember when the last time was, and besides, as an out of stater now, I'm pretty sure I would have to take out a loan or something to get a "non-resident" hunting license in PA
